whats a cheap ebook reader that can do PDFs?

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

looking to get a ebook reader. but i dont want any of that constant online 3g money hole that the kindle does etcetc.

anyone know of a ebook reader thats cheap. and has pdf support. all i need it to do is show pdfs

Not sure if it helps, but the Amazon Kindle will can read PDF files. See the section "Files Kindle Recognizes" on the official page here and you’ll know what file formats are supported by the Kindle:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fhelp%2Fcustomer%2Fdisplay.html%3Fie%3DUTF8%26nodeId%3D200375630%26ref_%3Dhp%5Fnavbox%5Fk2land%5Ftrans%5Fusb&tag=elec-m-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

The Kindle is much cheaper now since it got a price slash. And I remember I read these reviews when I decided to get my Kindle 2:

ebook reader meant for PDF ONLY?

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

I need to find a pdf ebook reader that’s out already… price doesn’t matter…
Should have a large screen, fast, and work AMAZINGLY with pdf, Full Page Continuous, Landscape Continuous, Two Column, Manual Crop Margins, Autocrop Margins, Single Page Reflow, Zoom Images in Reflow, Table of Contents, Hyperlinks, Text Search; Dictionary Lookup, stuff like that, and not just turn each page into an image like the kindle.

I was thinking irex 1000 but i heard it sucks with pdf

I prefer the Amazon Kindle if you want to use it for reading PDF. You can see the ebook formats that the Kindle support in "Files Kindle Recognizes" section here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fgp%2Fhelp%2Fcustomer%2Fdisplay.html%3Fie%3DUTF8%26nodeId%3D200375630%26ref_%3Dhp%5Fnavbox%5Fk2land%5Ftrans%5Fdownload&tag=searchresult-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

There are some good user reviews and comparison of different models of the Kindle here:

Is there a better ebook reader than Amazon Kindle DX for PDF textbook reading? Don’t care about WiFi/3G stuff.?

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

The Kindle is the best. It uses eInk screen and the screen size is big enough, all for easy reading of textbooks. I’ve mentioned quite a lot about textbooks on the Kindle here:

And here are the textbooks you can find on the Kindle:

i tried to download pdf reader to my phone to try to open pdf ebook file type, but it doesnt work. i tried some research and they say it can open symbian something kind of extension file type which is .sis files but it doesnt work either i tried different type of pdf opener to my nokia 6300 phone but nothing i tried seems to work, can you recommend some programs i could used, or nokia 6300 really cant open pdf files at all. (i realy want to read ths book through my phone but nothing seems to work, too sad) :’(

No, the phone can not read anything, but maybe you can if the phone manages to render the content on screen. Can you?

You have a Nokia Series 40 phone, supporting Java applications. So why the frak can’t you open Google and search for "Series 40 Nokia pdf reader" or "Series 40 Nokia eBook reader".

Also consider visiting Nokia’s app store, http://store.ovi.com
Login to the site, specify the phone model you have and they will tell you which apps are compatible and allow you to search among them …

whats the best eBook reader?

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

I want to get a ebook reader that you can add your own PDF files, not buy them, just search the net for the book download it to pc and then to the ebook reader.
I am thinking on getting Kindle DX but is to expensive and nobody has answer the PDF question same for Sony PRS 505 or 700.

It must be the Kindle DX for sure. Read this thorough review and you’ll know why a Sony Reader lover will choose the Kindle DX:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Freview%2FRR2UVRTOI6UKW%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref%255F%3Dcm%255Fcr%255Frdp%255Fperm&tag=searchresult-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

There is also a good article here talking about how to get the most from the investment on Kindle DX:

China Phone Ebook Reader?

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Hi, I have a Kinlida Mobile Phone (China Phone). It has a Ebook reader in it but I don’t know how to use it.. I tried putting a .pdf file in the Ebook folder, But when I’m opening it in the Ebook Reader, the reader can’t find the file.. All it says is "folder empty".. Help me, I really enjoy reading but don’t want to bring books with me all the time.. Thanks!

Hello nic, try putting in a .txt file, maybe it only reads .txt files.
