    I really like the …
I really like the Kindle, I really love the fact that I can get my subscriptions to the LA Times and OC Register, while visiting family or friends in another state. I can keep up to date with my Los Angeles Lakers articles, which I love. What I don’t love, is the fact that Amazon is doing what I thought they would do. They are charging now for the whispernet, around $5 a week, a service that use to be free. Greed always has a way of screwing thing up.

Genius. I. So. Want. This. :D One problem with me is, when I look at the thickness of the book, I become overwhelmed. This way, I wouldn’t have to worry about having to read 400 pages.

    Does it have …
Does it have anti-shake properties so I can read erotic novels and masturbate simultaneously without disturbing the flow of reading?

could i download books stored in my computer?

Nothing to do with power consumption?

  9. axelasdf Says:

    How often do you …
How often do you read in the dark? It’s fairly common for people to be in lit spaces during their waking hours.

    Is there an updated …
Is there an updated one coming soon or is it fairly recent? I read a lot and am thinking about buying a kindle, but wouldn’t want to if a new model will be arriving within the next year (books are that bad).

Also, I wish they had Tim Powers’ novels on it. Please go to amazon and request!

    What does the …
What does the Kindle have that the new nook doesn’t?

  13. axnyaxaxlstreim Says:

    Yep, and their …
Yep, and their entire purpose for removing the backlight was to take away the strain for your eyes.

  14. ningalex Says:

    the reason for no …
the reason for no back lighting is that reading in the dark is not good for eyes.

  15. axnyaxaxlstreim Says:

    True, but that …
True, but that really limits where you read. If you were in the car at night you couldn’t read.
It would be great if they enabled you to turn on and off the backlight, or adjust it.
But it’s a matter of personal opinion :)
    I still want one xD

  16. hpis2cool Says:

    It’s not a downside …
It’s not a downside! It’s just like a book and that’s the point. If it did have back lighting, that would mean that it would be harder to read.

  17. TherapudicCaffeine Says:

    The male reading …
The male reading voice sounds much better. Anyway, I really want this, but it’s so expensive!

  18. axnyaxaxlstreim Says:

    Yeah, at first …
Yeah, at first people said it sounded mechanical, almost like a vocaloid voice, but amazon claims people get used to it.

  19. axnyaxaxlstreim Says:

    They boosted the …
They boosted the battery life 25% more, but it mainly only conserves energy because of no back lighting which means you can’t read in the dark, that was a downside.

  21. LiveLaughLoveYAY Says:

    Wouldn’t that …
Wouldn’t that reading voice get annoying??? It sounds like a GPS device that you’d use in your car. I guess most people probably wouldn’t use this feature anyway…
